Track Development Fund
Helping to develop new MTB tracks
Fees from the 2007 / 08 events have funded the following track work:
1. From the soccer pitch up off Alexandra Rd to base of Mt Alfred - and was used in 2008 event.
2. A zigzag down from Alexandra Rd to Marist St Pats - this will form part of the 2009 course. Money from PNP club and Ground Effect was also used to fund this track.
These tracks now complete a great figure of 8 circuit (intro / intermediate level -which WCC has signposted), as well as providing cool off road commuting - more details.
3. We have also donated money to the Makara Peaks supporters to help with the building of some kids tracks in Karori South.
Because Mt Victoria is so accessible we are keen to continue developing the network of tracks, hence the track levy included in race entry fee. The track levy works out at approx' $4-5 per head, less than a swim at the pool!!
