For a brief outline check out the race format page
Yes in 2011 there will be a 6 hour solo section, but spaces are limited to 12. Solo competitors will need to share a tent site with a team.
For the 12 hour section night lights will be needed for about 1.5hours, and a standard set of night lights, (suitable for off road night riding) will have enough battery time.
6 hour starts at 3pm and finishes at 9pm, so only the last rider will need lights. (Sunset is at 8.40)
A map of the course will be posted on this site nearer to the event date. The course will be open from about 8.30am on the day for all competitors to trial the course.
We will have security guards on the site on the Friday night. If teams want to sleep overnight, it's fine, the toilets and changing rooms - with showers will be open. Please note there is a fire ban on Mt Victoria so teams cooking must use gas and have their own Fire extinguisher.
We are not responsible for any lost or damage personal belongings. We suggest you that do not leave the valuables on the site over nights.
It is expected that teams will have all their team members go round the course roughly equally, we cannot police this, but would hope that teams will enter the event in the spirit of Fair Play, and not have a ‘token’ member just to make up numbers / gender mix etc, who then hardly rides the course.
Juniors need to be aged 12 - 17 years (under 18 on Feb 14) and Legends must all be 40+ on FEb 14!!!
The distance is 6 - 7 km on mix of tracks, it really depends on fitness, ability etc, we estimate 17 – 30 minutes. Take a look at results from 2009!!
Course for 2011 - will be the similar to 2009 with the addition of a new zigzag track from Alexandra Rd all the way down to near the velodrome. Its a figure of 8 loop that is fast, fun and undulating.
Heaps of variety, including cruisy good downhills, neat single track as well as wider 4WD track for overtaking.
Teams are allocated a tent site when they have entered.
If you wish to have a site next to another team, then after entering (all teams concerned need to have entered) you need to contact Susan. (susan@fordwardthinking.co.nz). Space is limited and will be allocated on a first come first served bases.
We will have a special area for Camper vans, please state this on your entry
Of course, you can stop and start when ever you like
